How many licks does it take?

You are all seen the classic tootsie roll commercial with the owl, the turtle and the little guy. If you haven't, here it is...



This commercial sums up life...at least for me it does. Let me explain.

Today was a great day. It started off with a bit of frustration though. There were multiple things that I had planned to get done. I couldn't do them though. Something stood in the way of my ability to complete the tasks. They will get done, they will just require a little extra time, and a little extra patience to see them through. I have to lick the tootsie pop until I get to the center...I can't just bite it!

I was joined and met my new small group this evening. It's the first small group I am a part of since high school. I was really excited to meet these new guys, but I was also really nervous. Remember what I said about me feeling like I don't "fit in"? That's what I was afraid of. I was afraid that I wouldn't like the guys, or that they wouldn't like me...or that it just wouldn't be an encouraging group of guys. This had me so worried that even Leslie noticed. (You will hear more of Leslie down the road I'm sure)

Well, I met the group, and I couldn't describe how great it felt. This group of guys seems to be the perfect group of guys for me to learn, and grow closer to God. There are guys in the group that seem to be mirror images of myself, and then there are guys that I wouldn't fit in with. God knows what he's doing. There are so many things in my life that I just can't fathom. I couldn't imagine anything as amazing as what He has done for me. It just keeps getting better everyday when I have faith in Him.

Well, I am getting very tired, and am starting to type nonsense. That's all for today, but if I can leave you with one thought for today, it would be this. Find out how many licks it takes to achieve what God want's for you. It will be a lot better than the instant gratification that would come if you bit in, and got to the center immediatly. God Bless.
